We are committed to providing a warm, safe, child-centered environment with a Christian-based curriculum.
Our School & Program
Grace Lutheran Preschool provides a nurturing environment that helps enhance a child's creative
imagination through cognitive development, structured and unstructured play time, use of social
skills, as well as fine and gross motor tasks.
We believe a child's preschool experience should be centered on social skills,
language and self-help skills which are essential developmental building blocks.
These are skills that require time to develop and will give young children the tools to adjust to
future academic settings. Art, songs, fun and fitness, games, stories, gross and fine motor play,
outdoor activity and circle time discussion are just some of the ways we nurture emotional, social,
physical, and intellectual development in our students through the Power of Play.
As part of our Christian education, we pray before snack, read Bible stories, have weekly Jesus Time,
enjoy visits from Pastor Kennedy, and present a Christmas Pageant.
We also welcome guests such as members of the Mohegan Fire Dept., local police officers, and a local
dental hygienist. In addition, the Four Year old class goes on trips to Stuart's Fruit Farm, the Hart
Library and a local Kindergarten.
Our Facilities
Classes are conducted in two bright, fully equipped classrooms. In addition our large
hall is used for special events, music class, and fun & fitness class.
Our Classes
Our Three Year olds meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Using a calendar they are introduced to numbers and
letters, and also learn to recognize their first names. We introduce them to cutting, tracing and working with
glue, paint and other media.
Our Four Year olds meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.
Much emphasis is given to Kindergarten readiness. The children learn to cut on lines, trace and write their
first name and recognize their last name. In addition they learn the alphabet and the sound each letter has,
they are made familiar with the calendar and numbers and they are encouraged to verbally express themselves.
All classes are from 9:00 to 11:45 AM.
Our school year begins in September and runs through June.
